The Fairmont Dollars for Scholars chapter is adding another endowed scholarship which will be awarded for the first time at the chapter's annual Awards Night in May 2008. Sherwood and Carol Sagedahl and their three children, Laurie Tostrud, Stacey McAnelly, and Joel Sagedahl recently contributed $10,000 to the chapter to establish The Sagedahl Family Scholarship.

Sherwood and Carol Sagedahl were long time employees of the Fairmont Public Schools. Sherwood was a high school counselor and coach while Carol was a teacher in the middle school. They both retired from the school system and continue to live in Fairmont. The Sagedahls' three children are Fairmont High School graduates. Laurie ('85), Stacey ('88), and Joel ('91) all recieved scholarships from Dollars for Scholars while attending St. Olaf College. At St. Olaf, Laurie earned a math degree. Stacey and Joel graduated with chemistry degrees. All three are married and living in the twin cities area.
