The Richardson Family Scholarship

The Fairmont Dollars for Scholars Chapter is pleased to announce the establishment of a new endowed scholarship in memory of Bradford W. Richardson, a former resident of Fairmont. Mr. Richardson was a Fairmont native, born on December 9, 1897 , to Dr. & Mrs. W. J. Richardson. He graduated from Fairmont High and his two children William B. Richardson and Mrs. Cathy Hartshorn were also Fairmont graduates. He attended Carleton College and graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in chemistry. Mr. Richardson returned to Fairmont High School as a chemistry teacher and two years later he was hired as the high school principal. In 1951, he became Martin County Superintendent of Schools and then in 1957 he served as the veteran’s service officer for the county. He also operated a local restaurant that was very popular with the high school crowd.
