Maynard and Audrey Johnson Scholarship

The Fairmont Dollars for Scholars chapter is pleased to announce that Maynard and Audrey Johnson of Fairmont are establishing an endowed scholarship with the chapter. This scholarship, which will be named the Maynard and Audrey Johnson Scholarship, will be awarded at the chapter's annual Awards Night in May of each year. In May 2006, the chapter awarded 108 scholarships totaling $100,500. The Fairmont chapter which was established in 1974, has awarded over $1,200,000 in college scholarships to Fairmont High School graduates.

Maynard Johnson was a long time math teacher in the Fairmont High School. During a number of those years he was the head boys track and head boys cross-country coach. Audrey was in the reatil business for many years, including a period of time when she owned and managed "Children's World" a clothing store in downtown Fairmont. Both Maynard and Audrey are now retired. The Johnson's three children, who all graduated from Fairmont High School, each recieved a college scholarship through the Fairmont chapter. Terry, '77 graduate, and his wife, Diane (Lidke), '78 graduate, earned accounting degrees at the University of South Dakota. Bryan, '79 graduate, graduated from Iowa State University with an engineering degree and Lynette, '82 graduate, received her biology degree from Montana State University.
